Sister, sister!

.

I feel so lucky that my sister is not just my sister...she's my best friend too! She's the one girl (besides our Mom) that has seen me through every single stage in my life. When you grow up with someone you have a special bond- they've seen everything you've seen, they've had all of the same experiences, they've been with you, side-by-side through it all. Lauren just gets me. So when she surprised me this weekend with a beautiful sister tattoo on her arm paying tribute to favorite part of our childhood, I was blown away. It was the best surprise, and the meaning behind the tattoo is so, so special to us. We already have matching sister tattoos on our thighs, and I have her name on my forearm, but this one takes the cake for my favorite tattoo of hers. It's just so pretty.

"Sisters by chance, friends by choice." Love you Lauren, Laurman, Auntie Lolo. You're the best.

  2. I don't have a sister, but I do understand the strong family bond the two of you have. While not quite the same thing, I consider my Mum to be one of my best friends. It's a great thing to be family and friends.

Also have to say that I love that tattoo. The artist is amazing, I only wish I knew someone equally as amazing in Melbourne... did he do your matryoshka?

  3. How beautiful! It's such a special thing to be close with your sister, or sibling in general. My sister and I are such different people, but we talk the same and have the exact same sense of humour, so when other people don't laugh at the same things I do. I know when I talk to her next and tell her, she'll laugh about it just as much as I did!

  4. That is so sweet, I know the feeling of having a great sister! I have a piece in my thigh for my twin sister, it was a great choice that I love every time I see it!

  5. This is so special. I have a twin sister whom I love dearly. I plan on surprising her with some sort of delicacy on day. Things like this sure makes sister bonds a lot tighter and that much harder to break :)

  9. How sweet! I love that tattoo. Kudos to the artist! You two almost look like twins, save for the dark VS light hair - which is kind of cool as well!

  11. That tattoo is gorgeous!
I always feel a little sad when I read posts like this. There are a lot of bloggers out there that talk about their special bond with their sister. Me and my sister don't have anything in common, we are completely different and we just never really connected the way other sisters have. Don't know why...We talk and we hang out when we can and stuff...but we just don't have this special "thing"

You are two beautiful women though. Love the sister tattos and all!

Lauren's tattoo is super pretty, and how sweet!
If you don't mind me asking... what is the special meaning behind the tattoo?

  16. Sisters are seriously the best. Mine is my best friend too and it's killing me that she's several states away because her husband is in the Army and stationed in Tennessee.

That tattoo is beautiful, how sweet.

  17. You and your sister have the most beautiful tattoos. I currently have zero, but have always wanted one. I love the classic look of the lettering and design. :)

I'm pretty happy I grew up with a sister, too!

  18. You two are simply beautiful! Although I don't have any blood sisters, my sorority sisters are amazing women [and some of us even have matching anchor tattoos!]

  19. Love it you're so, so lucky! I wish my sister realized that friends come & go but you always have your sister and she should also be your friend. She's just too wrapped up in her life that she only comes around when she needs something :(

  20. "To the outside world we all grow old. But not to brothers and sisters. We know each other as we always were. We know each other’s hearts. We share private family jokes. We remember family feuds and secrets, family griefs and joys. We live outside the touch of time." ~Clara Ortega
My fav quote about siblings. My bro and I are super close as well!

  25. That's so beautiful. My baby brother and I have a sibling tattoo, but he's a boy so ours is a bit silly. No less meaningful though. Family is everything. So glad your bond with your sister is so strong. :)
